MIV Internships: The goals of the MIV acting internship are to engage fourth-year medical students in learning a high level of responsibility for primary, inpatient care from a unique Family Medicine approach and understand the family physician's role in the hospital setting. Other opportunities will be assisting with or performing simple surgical procedures and evaluating emergency patients. MIV students can expect to spend most of their time in an inpatient setting caring for their own patients. They work closely with interns and upper level residents, and are expected to make rounds, present patients, write daily notes/orders and discuss patient care with specialists. Overnight call is encouraged but optional. Please contact Amy Daubenspeck (804) 276-2150 if you are interested. |
